John founded Spartan Security Solutions seven years ago with a clear vision: to create smarter, more personalized security systems built around the real needs of real businesses. With a background in Areo-Space Engineering and a passion for problem-solving, he has guided Spartan from an idea into a trusted name—developing custom solutions, building strong client relationships, and staying deeply involved in every part of the operation. His hands-on leadership and commitment to quality have shaped Spartan’s culture from the ground up.

Scott Leyendecker

VP of Operations

Scott has a core source behind Spartan’s continuous evolution, combining over 14 years of industry experience with a boots-on-the-ground leadership style that demonstrates a deep understanding of what it takes to get the job done. His deep well of knowledge, unmatched work ethic, and problem-solving instincts have made him the person everyone counts on to make the impossible possible. Spartan Security Solutions LLC

Team Story

Spartan Security Solutions started with a simple belief: businesses deserve security solutions that truly fit their needs. Founded by a group of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineers from Missouri S&T, Spartan was born out of late nights, big ideas, and a shared drive to do things differently. The team combined their technical backgrounds with a hands-on approach to solve real-world challenges. From day one, their focus has been on building trusted relationships, delivering custom solutions, and making sure every client feels seen, supported, and secure.

Our Team

Our strength comes from our people — great solutions start with genuine connections.

Guila Rodhouse

Executive / Financial Administrator

Guila has been a driving force behind Spartan’s internal growth and stability since its creation. With a hand in everything from operations and finance to HR and team culture, she’s helped shape the backbone of Spartan operates. She’s known for building out thoughtful systems, bringing clarity to complexity, and always being the first to dive into new tools and ideas. Equal parts strategist and spreadsheet enthusiast, Guila brings structure, harmony—and often a song—to everything she touches.

Joseph Schmitt

Engineering

Joey brought five years of technical leadership with him to Spartan, built on his experience designing systems for the Missouri S&T Mars Rover team. At Spartan, he focuses on improving internal processes, refining operational standards, and developing knowledge bases that support team efficiency. He led the transformation of Spartan’s internal software systems and continues to build the custom tools that power our projects. Joey thrives on the variety of work and environments his role offers—and when he’s not optimizing systems, he’s slowly working his way across the Great Lakes, one frozen shoreline at a time.

Chuck Criteser

Facilities / Engineering Technician

Charles Criteser has been working with Spartan since 2019, as a field tech who also works on fleet management. Previously, Chuck worked as a bricklayer’s assistant, in tree trimming, and a variety of other jobs that require someone who is good at building. Chuck has worked to improve overall company organization and keep company vehicles clean and in working order. In his spare time, he works on a family farm and with whatever theater productions his wife Grace has volunteered to him to build sets on.

Philip Goss

Project Management

Philip brings a rare blend of discipline, technical insight, and creative problem-solving to every project he touches. With a foundation shaped by military service and years of experience managing complex rollouts, he approaches his work with structure, clarity, and a quiet confidence. At Spartan, he’s a steady force behind the scenes—guiding projects from blueprint to final closeout while keeping teams aligned and clients informed. Known for his practical mindset and calm demeanor, Philip thrives in fast-moving environments and brings order to the chaos. Outside of work, you’ll find him in the woodshop or perfecting a new pickle recipe—proving that attention to detail and craftsmanship show up in everything he does.

Sarah Saxton

Finance / Logistics

Sarah has been a steady force behind Spartan’s inventory and invoicing systems. She keeps stock levels accurate and ensures customers receive timely, organized billing—all while bringing a level of precision and follow-through that’s hard to beat. After leading a major overhaul of our inventory process, she made it easier than ever to track what we have and what it’s worth. Her flexible schedule allows her to balance work with life as a stay-at-home mom—and apparently still win every single fight against a grizzly bear.

Grace Criteser

Project Management

Grace Criteser has been working with Spartan since 2019, in a variety of roles, currently working as the service director scheduling and organizing when the company completes work. Previously, Grace worked in insurance processing in a very similar role, and very much enjoys the challenge of keeping Spartan on track and completing jobs in a timely and efficient manner.  Grace has worked with various people in the company to improve record keeping and organization. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering at her local theater, organizing theater productions as assistant director and occasionally acting.
